C Street Surfing Museum

NOTE: December 20, 2007 -- The Visitor Center is moving to 101 S. California St
The C Street Surfing Museum is closed until further notice.



  The original "C Street Surfing Museum" was opened in March of 1992 as a tribute
  to the surfing history of Ventura. It featured a number of historically significant
  surfboards and other memorabilia indigenous of to the sport of surfing.


  In 2005, local surfers and people from our community presented the
  C Street Longboard Classic, a classic surf contest that raised funds for
  and helped create the "C Street Museum Foundation", a 501-c3 non-profit
  orginazation dedicated to the re-creation of a surfing museum in Ventura.
  In June of 2006, a location was found and the re-opening of our
  "C Street Surfing Museum" in summer of 2006.


  Our Mission
  To promote public education about the history, art, science and sport of surfing,
  by establishing and maintaining a C Street Surfing Museum in Ventura, California, which
  will be open to the general public and will include both traditional and interactive "hands on"
  exhibits which promote self discovery, foster the art, science and technology of surfing,
  and are of particular interest both to children and adults.
  To create, maintain and protect the artifacts and other historic items and other memorabilia
  of the sport of surfing, and to maintain and display them in the museum for the perpetual
  enjoyment and education of the general public.
  To promote the preservation of the environment, the sport of surfing, and safe surfing
  practices and techniques.
